Accelerating at a fast clip!

If you're just hearing about Allergy Amulet, let me catch you up. The Allergy Amulet is a rapid, portable, point-of-consumption food allergen detection device that connects to a patent-pending, disposable test strip. The device enables simple, mobile measurements to help individuals avoid ingesting target allergens. The Allergy Amulet can be configured as a wearable (e.g., necklace) or integrated into everyday products (e.g., Epi-Pen).

This past fall we were a finalist with MassChallenge in Boston. MassChallenge chose 128 finalist companies from over 2,250 applicants to be part of its three-month accelerator. From this experience, we grew our advisory board, secured lab space (which is not as easy as we thought!), and mingled with some of the best start-up talent in the country. It was also a MassChallenge connection that helped us secure our first investors.

In February we were accepted to gener8tor  – a Top 15 business accelerator that invests up to $140k in five high-growth start-ups twice a year. We were chosen from a pool of 544 applicants from around the world. Since February we've grown our team, hired two stellar consultants, and made headway on the product development side. The program has also provided us with access to resources and support from its extensive network of experienced mentors, corporate partners, and investors.

We've also been fortunate to have great advisors. If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes hundreds of mentors to launch a successful start-up. From the hundreds we've met over the years, we've learned a great deal and avoided potential pitfalls. Our core group of advisors has contributed greatly to our recent progress and success. These individuals include allergists, allergy sufferers, our investors, business and finance executives, and attorneys. Some have been with us since the very beginning. Our advisors have shared their homes, insight, edits, and countless cups of coffee with us. For that we're incredibly grateful.
