About This Role

We’re seeking a Head of Product Engineering & Development to oversee product strategy and day-to-day management of product development and testing. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this individual will be based in Boston, MA and will have the option of partial remote work.

We’re seeking an individual with 7+ years of electro-mechanical experience, ideally in consumer products or related medical/industrial industries with a proven track record of success in product commercialization. Our ideal candidate is either a biomedical engineer with extensive electrical engineering experience or an electrical engineer with biomedical experience. We’re seeking someone who is a self-starter, learns quickly, and can navigate complex technical issues with clarity and precision while managing a growing team.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Leading the construction of sensors integrating chemical, mechanical, and electrical systems

  • Developing, testing, and troubleshooting electronic subsystems and systems

  • Human factors and packaging for the sensors and electronic systems, enabling a viable product for the customer

  • Overseeing sensor and product testing internally and in the field

  • Enabling the mathematical modeling and software simulation of sensor and electronic systems

  • Leading discussions in a variety of professional settings and preparing technical reports when requested or mandated by good product development practices

  • Supporting the commercialization efforts of the company

  • Managing a small but growing team of employees, consultants, and CMOs

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in biomedical engineering or electrical engineering, or equivalent

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience with product development, preferably in consumer tech

  • Experience in key technical areas of interest which include electrochemistry, electroanalytical methods, consumer product design, consumer product development, human factors, electronics engineering, and electrochemical biosensors

  • Strong communication and team-building skills across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to explain complex strategic initiatives and advanced scientific/medical challenges across a broad audience, both formally and informally, and inspire that audience

Preferred Experiences and Skills:

  • Prior work with a start-up or early-stage biotech company

  • Experience working with electrochemical sensors

  • Commercial assay development

  • Flexibility to travel within the U.S. and internationally (up to 20%)
